Bill Bauer grew up in the suburban sprawl that was engulfing the city of Baltimore during the 1960's. He was raised in the era of pasteurized American cheese product sandwiches, Kool Aid and canned tomato soup. These were the days when Johnny Unitas and Frank Robinson took the sports field in his hometown and were stacked up in importance only to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Set against this blue-collar landscape dotted with Little Taverns, a creative genius was emerging.

Bill first discovered in passion for music around the time the British invasion hit Baltimore. He remembers his mom getting him records by the Beatles, The Who and the Monkees. The music they played made him feel something deep in his soul. Somewhere around his fifteenth year, Bill began discovering his own talent for music. He began teaching himself boogie-woogie and blues licks on the piano his grandmother gave the family. Soon his own compositions began flowing from his fingers.  He began playing them for his kids in his neighborhood.  When a friend remarked that one of his compositions had been haunting his memory for days, Bill realized he had a definite knack for this craft.   Creativity also emerged in the form of painting and he started attending classes at the Maryland Institute of Art where he  painted for hours on end. Ultimately, his love for music won the day.

Bill decided to take the plunge and moved to New York City in 1980 to pursue a career in music. He began forming and playing in cutting-edge modern pop bands like Million Dollar Bill, the Blackight Chameleons & Katfish Row.  His hypnotic blend of rock, neo-psychedelic and American Blues/Country took his bands all around the country playing venues such as CBGB's in NYC to the Filmour West in San Fransisco.  Bill was the chief songwriter and keyboardist in all his bands.

Indy hits to his credit include Suzi Uzi & Poison Arrow often heard blazing the airwaves on stations all across the country and Europe.  Suzi Uzi & Poison Arrow were in regular rotation on the Dr. Demento nationally-syndicated radio show.

In addition to his melodic collaborations, Bill has written several musicals like Nowhere High which was performed locally in New Jersey theatres, and Summer of Love - a production about San Fransisco life during the 1960's. His production of Hanging From a Strap featuring Michael Bruck, spotlighted life in the NYC subway tunnels was performed at La Mama in NYC in 1985.

Bill's talent for composition and storyline expands beyond his songwriting ability. He is pitching original TV show concepts to various networks including a show about a middle-aged rock group called The Middle Ages and "SoccorMom: Superstar" which will bring the trials, tribulations and every day celebrations of famous moms to the small screen.  In addition, his musical Nowhere High about a modern high school in the middle of Megalopolis is keenly crafted and poised for production.  Bill's latest endeavor is Middle of Nowhere, a new musical about the many faces of a rural farming family and it's collision with modern society.

Bill creates and masterfully incorporates interesting and thought-provoking storylines and music that fits the mood perfectly - whether it be lyrics, melody or character/plot development.  His magic is created through his gift that is seen through the looking glass of his life.

Bill Bauer currently resides in rural New Jersey where he records CD's of his original music and continues to perfect his talent for writing musicals and television story ideas.
